OK, I’m over the depression instilled by reading Kierkegaard, and need to acknowledge some ideas that I do agree with. The main one is that form and content (subject matter, or idea) are mutual and interlinked. So although I might not agree with his idea that the best content for music is sensuality (both being the most abstract of their type in his opinion), and think that spirituality is as abstract as sensuality, I do agree that it is both the content and the form that are important in music delivering meaning. I have had a welcome meeting with a theologian who I agree with on the form/content issue.
